Band members

István Bocskai - guitar, voice

I was born as the third and last-born child of a poor man in the last century, in 1953 which was the year of the Mount Everest’s conquest. I was the first musician in the family since I was enrolled for a music school. Under Jimi Hendrix’s impact I decided to play the guitar but being self-critical I played classical music in first. One day I overheard Big Bill Bronzy’s music and it has changed my life: it was the beginning of my blues age lasted for 30 years, doted with other musical styles such as bluegrass, Irish and other “industrial” music. Meanwhile I was working as a goldsmith, a swimming teacher, a fireman, a graphic artist and a decorator. I wanted to be a painter, but instead of that I became a music teacher. Playing the kazoo I have taken part in the recording of 25 discs and played for many years in different countries in Europe. My wife is also a world-traveled musician; my daughter is playing the piano. We have got 3 guinea pigs in our family but they can’t make music yet.

Gábor Szabó - violin, vocals

My name is Gábor Szabó. I was born in Kosice, an ancient Hungarian town which belongs to Slovakia since 1919. I became musician, thanks to my father who had enrolled me in a conservatoire. There I studied classical music and played the violin in the school's orchestra.

My encounter with Hungarian folk music and the foundation of our band “Csámborgó” made 1982 a very significant year of my life. This band provided musical background for the Hungarian folk dance ensemble “Új Nemzedék” (New Generation) in the first period of its activity. Then during a film shooting we met Kati Szovák, a very famous folk singer, this encounter was followed by many years of cooperation which has produced lots of concerts, several albums and some tours abroad. Our band “Csámborgó” was the first professional band playing Hungarian folk music in Slovakia.

From 1997 untill 2007 I played music in band called “Hegedős” and was member of the band “Fonó” as well (both bands published several CDs). Today I am a freelancer and spend my time playing music and being a massage therapist.

Péter Strausz - bass, vocals

The Jimi Hendrix Experience was formed on my second birthday. Thanks Jimi, it was a great gift, you have been one of my favorites ever since. And it was my father, who by listening to the music of the fifties and sixties, endeared me to rock’n’roll. I started playing music at 16, due to being bored and to attract the girls. Being a naive and lazy guy, I choose the bass, thinking and hoping that it would be easier to play its four strings as opposed to the guitar's six. I was a bit wrong about that. Being a big music collector in my teenage years allowed me to get know the famous American and English musicians of the sixties and seventies, whom I  have learned a lot from.

Since then I have taken part in many bands playing blues, rock, country and party music, testing myself in different genres, enriching my musical knowledge, and getting to know many music-lovers as “crazy” as me.

I have lived my life for many years as a “life artist”, working at customer services to my boss’ and  the clients’ delight, but this period of my life has ended by now. Today, I have got two teenage children who enjoy but don't make music, although my wife used to play the piano for 10 years, adding new colors to my family’s taste with her classical music background. We've also got two dogs in our family who, for the great contentment of our neighbors, practice singing every night. They already know how to troll...
